ARTIST STATEMENT
Katy loves to paint on location (en plein air) with oil paints quickly capturing the essence of the object or scene before her. Upon arriving on location she looks for a composition, a gesture, a color combination or flow of water that excites her and says, “paint this view”. She works all over the canvas establishing the composition and color values. Next she works positively and negatively sculpting the objects before her. The result is paintings that are gestural and full of color and life.
